help with my 1981 Yamaha motorcycle xs400 special 2?
I have a 1981 Yamaha xs400 special 2 it seems that only runs on one cylinder. when I wipe plugs will run on both sides for a while after returning to a single cylinder. I think only weak spark on the right side. in the left engine near the CAM I think they are the points but i do not know how to get the cover. the only thing I can think of is bad plugs. are be7es NGK are they right? Someone has any ideas?
Jim,,, there is no point in these things, have electronic ignition, also known as CDI. Change the spark plug wires and caps Plug. Get some real electronic contact cleaner and spray the inside of the coil terminals. NGK Plug Caps Replacement ago that 5kOhm, that's good option. They also have a cable / cap assembly available. Use any solid wire center, the most auto parts have bulk cable plug Spark plugs are BP 7GB,,, I assume you typo the "BE7es? The "P" BP is a projected Council, a long nose cap. Replace cables and plugs, and if that seems to solve the problem,,, NGK Iridium plugs BPR7EIX Try some bikes in age, is living a moment of bad gasoline nice,,, age is also pure. wouldnt hurt to run a dose fuel additive / cleaner a couple of times a year.
