Bands of VW air cooled heat?
So my exhaust has a hole on each side of the bands of heat into the intake manifold. The engine I placement of a new Super Beetle is a dual-port, and has two holes on each side. I live in a fairly hot all year round in California, so I really do not need hot bands anyway. My question is can I take a sawsall or something similar to the bands entering the intake manifold and leave them open so you can fit block plates in the exhaust so my car exhaust does not spit in the engine compartment, or cause a vacuum leak and require me to block them off too?
I know what you mean. The right way, of course, would be to get the heater box to match the heat risers.But want sift through a reservoir scrap, and go through all that work to replace the heating boxes? I prefer to do exactly what you mentioned above. California is not cold like Germany does. They were designed for the German climate. The hot bands are separated from the intake manifold.
