Nissan, like any other car manufacturer uses a unique method for naming their engines. The Nissan's engine designation is divided into parts. The first letters represent the Nissan engine family, standing next digit of displacement dl and the remaining letters represent the characteristics of engine. When Nissan began this nomenclature, most engines were carbureted non-turbo and normally uses a single camshaft. As technology advanced, Nissan engine requires simple classification for differentiation between various versions. The solution was to add letters to the designation of base showing the difference.
Nissan RB 20 is a model of such engines. This is a 2.0 to 3.0 L-6 and four-stroke petrol or gasoline engine from Nissan. This comes in two versions and both SOHC and DOHC have aluminum heads. All RB engines have belt driven cams and the cast iron block. Most models come with a turbo turbo intercooler, which has a closed recirculating factory blow. Nissan A 31 is a famous model that was launched in September 1988 for the first time in the Japanese market. This model includes several features high technology, such as 4-wheel HICAS, sonar electronic damper control, automatic headlamps and electric car view mirror. The A 31 Cefiro had several characteristics similar to the RB series straight-6 engine to be intercooled turbo RB20DET. In the introductory stage is ignored like any other sedan, but in recently became popular. Later, these models suffered minor alterations in 1960 to improve the management of the pump energy and avoid corrosion problems. The Most Pontiac engines were painted light blue. The famous version of the 389 Pontiac V8 was called the trophy or a V8 engine storm. Pontiac engines are in fact one of the few U.S. manufacturers did not identify their names and sizes of machines with air cleaners or valve cover decals.
Pontiac V8 engines was launched first as models Strato streak. However, since the growing popularity of this model within a short time the management decided introduce V8 model in the full line of Pontiac models.
